Case Study 001

From $32,000 to studio-level pricing in 18 months.

How a solo creative studio replaced spreadsheets, guesswork, and apologetic pricing with a system that closed 62% of qualified inquiries in its first year — and moved typical project quotes from under $5,000 to the $15,000–$28,500 tier menu range.

The Background

A skilled craftsman with a pricing problem.

In 2020, fvrloyal operated as a solo creative studio offering web development, motion design, photography, illustration, and NFT collection creation. Annual revenue: approximately $32,000. Typical project size: $3,000–$5,000.

The work was excellent. Client feedback was consistently positive. The portfolio demonstrated senior-level craft across multiple disciplines. The problem was not skill — it was infrastructure.

Every quote was assembled from memory. Pricing varied by mood, by client, by how confident the operator felt on that particular Tuesday. Follow-ups lived in an inbox with no system. A $40,000 inquiry could sit unanswered for three days because it arrived between two active projects.

The Problem

Three failures that cost $147,000 in one year.

Failure 1: Inconsistent pricing. A website quoted at $4,500 in March was quoted at $7,200 in June — same scope, same deliverables. The client who received the $7,200 quote hired someone else. The $4,500 client referred a friend who expected the same price for a larger project. Both outcomes lost money.

Failure 2: Lost leads. Over 12 months, at least 8 qualified inquiries went unanswered for more than 48 hours. By the time a response was sent, the prospect had already engaged another studio. Conservative estimate of lost revenue: $96,000.

Failure 3: Identity gap. The portfolio presented studio-quality work. The quoting process presented freelancer-level professionalism. Clients perceived a contradiction and priced accordingly — paying freelancer rates for studio output.

The Build

What we built and why.

The system was designed around one principle: make the real value of the work visible to both operator and client, at every stage of the conversation. Specific components:

Build time: 21 days from concept to operational. Stack: vanilla HTML/CSS/JavaScript with Node.js backend and SQLite database. Zero monthly SaaS fees. Self-hosted fonts. No third-party dependencies for core functionality.

The Results

18 months later.

On the numbers: The $32,000 starting figure matches documented pre-system revenue (see our origin story). Post-system run-rate and close rate are self-reported from operator console data — not audited financials. Your market, volume, and follow-through will differ. We do not guarantee any revenue outcome.

Time spent on quoting and admin dropped from approximately 10 hours per week to under 2. Lead response time dropped from 2–3 days to under 4 hours. No inquiry has gone unanswered since the system launched.

The Principle

"A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight."

Proverbs 11:1

The system did not change the quality of the work. It changed the visibility of the value. When clients can see what they are receiving — clearly, transparently, without pressure — they pay what it is worth. That is not a sales technique. It is an honest exchange.
